In 1981 Dr. Alfred O. Bonati founded the Gulf Coast Orthopaedic Center Institute for Special Surgery of Joint Disease, a modern medical facility dedicated solely to the treatment of pain-causing spinal and neck problems. Dr. Bonati and his team quickly gained worldwide recognition as pioneers in the research, development, and application of laser technology to arthroscopic surgical procedures. Their dedication to innovation resulted in The Bonati Procedures, the first procedures to adapt the field of Arthroscopy to lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine surgery. These revolutionary outpatient procedures virtually eliminated the need for traditional “open” back surgeries.

The Bonati Procedures have been awarded six U.S. Patents and results from The Bonati Procedures are presented to medical conferences and scientific gatherings throughout the world, and published in numerous medical journals. The medical complex has since been renamed The Bonati Institute for Advanced Arthroscopic Surgery to reflect the remarkable contributions of The Bonati Procedures which, to date, have been performed successfully over 20,000 times. For nearly 20 years The Bonati Institute in Hudson, Florida has been the world’s destination for this advanced arthroscopic surgery.

More than 90% of The Bonati Institute’s patients report immediate improvement following a Bonati Procedure. Even patients who may have had “open” laminectomy or fusion surgeries that did not relieve their pain now have renewed hope with these gentle, carefully controlled, arthroscopic procedures.

The Bonati Procedures have proved successful in providing permanent relief of pain from numerous back and neck conditions, including pain from:

  • Bone Spurs
  • Degenerative Arthritis
  • Failed Open Back Surgery
  • Foraminal Narrowing
  • Fusion
  • Instability
  • Low Back Pain
  • Radiculitis
  • Sciatica
  • Scoliosis
  • Spinal Cord Compression
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Spondylosis
